Resorcinol liquefied product obtained by exhuastive solvolysis were examined in terms of reactivity whether they would be comparable adhesive resins to resorcinol-phenol co-condensate adhesives. The results were as follws, 1) RLP presented rather higher activation energy and Tmax than its fractions and a commercial resorcinolic resin. The addition of Na_2CO_3 to RLP, however, lowered the activation energy and Tmax. 2) The pH change toward alkaline side in cure system with addition of Na_2CO_3 was considered to contribute to lowering activation energy of resorcinol and RLP-L, while Na_2CO_3 itself worked on lowering activation energy of RLP and RLP-H as an acceleralater. We concluded that RLP would be a promising platform of adhesive resin comparable to resorcinol-phenol co-condensate resins if some modification could be applied, i.e. addition of Na_2CO_3 in cure system.
