The LEV-Ⅱ regulations will go into affect for model year 2004 cars. These new regulations will further restrict the amount of VOC's that can come from a car. A potential source of VOC's is engine oil because it contains low levels of gasoline. The properties of elastomeric compounds that come in contact with the engine oil can affect the rate at which VOC's come from a car. The "weep" properties and the permeation properties of AEM elastomer compounds that come in contact with oil/gasoline mixtures were studied.
