The strengthening method with the continuous carbon fiber sheet (CFS) to existing concrete structures is a very useful method. Based on eight high-strength concrete columns under cyclic loading, the effectiveness of the new method of using the continuous carbon fiber sheet on strengthening the high-strength concrete columns for increasing their ductility is studied. The factors affecting the ductility of the specimens such as the loading angle, the number of CFS layers and the tensile strength of CFS were analyzed. The confinement mechanism of CFS to high-strength concrete columns was also proposed. The experiment results indicate that the ductility of high-strength concrete columns is improved remarkably.
