摘要

The fluted mixer geometry can be described as a "rheologically" complicated geometry because of the sudden andlarge changes in the velocity field resulting from the geometry. The sudden restrictions of flow channel directlyinfluence the behavior of the polymer melt over the barrier flight and also the flow characteristics such as viscosity,mixing performance and pressure consumption of the mixer. The performance of this mixer type was calculated bymeans of a 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) program. Two typical geometries were investigated in order to showhow the flow and mixing characteristics are dependent on material properties, process conditions and mixergeometry.
