摘要

The accurate prediction of tidal current and tidal elevation in offshore and coastal waters is the basis for offshore, coastal engineering and- ocean environmental studies. A semi-implicit three dimensional ocean circulation model is employed to simulate the tidal flow of Hangzhou bay and Yangtze river estuary. σ coordinate is adopted in vertical direction. It permits the use of fine vertical resolution in the surface and bottom boundary layers. The effects of dramatically changing topography and density stratification can be taken into account. Numerical predictions of tidal elevation and tidal current agree well with field data.
