DC Furnace Improvements at SMI Steel-Alabama

SMI, responding to the needs of the marketplace and in anticipation of future demand, undertook these projects with the aim of becoming a 600,000 ton / year melt shop. Further, we did this with the goal of reducing conversion costs, increasing quality and safety and increasing shop reliability. We feel that these goals have been met, and with continued refinement of shop practices, will be exceeded in the years to come.
