A notion of "composability with respect to non-functional properties", which is a concept for building component-based real-time systems, is introduced. Composability is a property of a system architecture meaning that it is possible to compose systems having certain properties out of valid components of that architecture. In the context of real-time systems such a composable architecture may support preservation of component properties as well as deduction of system properties out of component properties. An example of a "compos-able" architecture for embedded real-time systems is developed.
