An analysis of periodically linear time-varying (PLTV) discrete systems (DS) shows that they possess unique properties. The appearance of additional spectrum components at the output of a PLTV system allows using them for many purposes in digital signal processing (DSP). Depending on which component is considered useful, the system can be applied to filtering or for the realization of digital functional elements by implementing frequency transformation. Application of PLTV algorithms for linear time-invariant (LTI) DS gives additional degrees of freedom in the synthesis of required system characteristics.
