In the traditional facial matching, faces are always presented in photographic format. However, in facial recall, suspect's face is usually reconstructed as a sketch image or a face composite. Face matching is not limited to the traditional photo-to-photo matching, but also extends to sketch-to-sketch, sketch-to-photo and photo-to-sketch. In this paper, we attempt to deal with these kinds of matching, based on a self-developed forensic application software of facial recall. This paper will be divided into two parts: in the first part, an encoding scheme is proposed to favour the process of sketch-to-sketch facial matching. In the second part, experiments are done to investigate the performances of two common face recognition techniques, PCA & LFA, in solving the problem of sketch-to-photo/photo-to-sketch facial matching.
