Element Management System for Broadband Access Networks

摘要

Recent advances in broadband communications systems ranging from wireline xDSL and cable modems applications to fixed wireless point-to-multipoint access systems create a whole new dimension in the scale and complexity of the element management systems. The question is how to manage an access network with hundreds to thousands of subscriber terminals and tens of thousands to millions of network connections, all of which are part of a larger network controlled by service providers, LECs and CLECs. This paper results from the experience of developing a scalable element management system, using Java as a platform and implementation language and CORBA as a distribution mechanism and integration framework.
