RESULTS OF VAMAS ACTIVITIES ON PRE-STANDARDIZATION OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES EVALUATION AT 4K

摘要

A series of international interlaboratory comparisons on the evaluation of mechanical properties of cryogenic structural materials, high-strength stainless steels, Ti-alloy, Al-alloy, solder, and G-10CR, have been performed among the participants of VAMAS (the Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards) TWA (Technical Working Area) 17 in order to establish the unified method since 1986. We have agreed on testing conditions of tensile tests, fracture toughness tests for alloys, and both compression & shear tests for composite material G-10CR. Some results were referred in some testing standards, however, we are preparing Technical Transfer Assessment Documents to ISO to promote the prestandardization program on material properties tests at 4K.
