Crash resistance objectives lead PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN to use ultra high strength steel for the front bumper of the new Peugeot 607. The use of a specific high strength steel with good quenching properties and a hot stamping process allows PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN to lighten this bumper. Indeed, the weight reduction is more than 2 kg compared to a conventional high strength steel solution.
