The development of agricultural information technology supported sustainable development of agricultural scientech and economy in China. THis paper systematicaly analized the major achievements of agricultural information technology in China during the past 20 years and its development trends in the future 10 years in the following areas: application of computer in agriculture, digitization of information resources and database technology, construction of information network, research and development for multimedia, information technology for agricultural production management etc., which provides scientific analysis for selecting technical policy and strategy.
