The technology of alfalfa industrialization in northern semiarid region of China

摘要

The history of Alfalfa planting in China has been going on more than 2000 years, but the planting area is almost distributed to the central west region of China. However, up to now it has not been developed into an alfalfa industry. In order to full utilize the characteristics of dry climate, fertile soil and the smooth land surface of Hulunbair rangeland for mechanization work in large-scale area, and setting up a pattern for reclaiming wasteland in central-west developing region as well. The project was carried out from 1997 to 2000, up to now, the China New Alfalfa Industry of Hailar Limited Company Planted 16 varieties of Medicago sativa, 7000 hm~2 of alfalfa stands were established in Hulunbair rangeland.
