This paper describes the application of an Automation Protection and Control System installed in Puerto Rico for the Aguas Buenas transmission substation. The system was designed to improve the intelligence of the substation and provide an effective solution for managing the information available within the substation, thereby reducing the cost of installation, maintenance and daily operation, and at the same time improving the quality of the power delivered.
