The authors report the results of numerical investigation of theprocess taking place in weakly-conducting liquids under the influence ofstrong electric fields. Their model describes the liquid, placed in anelectrolytic cell with two flatly-parallel electrodes, between which apotential difference is applied. Calculations are made for theone-dimensional hydrostatic case, the liquid is considered to beincompressible and the temperature within the volume constant. Positiveand negative ions are taken to be univalent. The system of partialdifferential equations describing the processes of current flow inliquid dielectrics is written in the form of a system of differenceequations. An irregular-exponential grid is used. Its applicationnotably widens the limits of initial values of ion concentration, birthand death coefficients, within which calculations are possible and theresults correct. A numerical experiment is conducted for castor andtransformer oil
