This study, which forms a part of long term exposure test programme of concrete members under marine environments, deals with physical and chemical examination of deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) beams after 23 years of exposure. The two types of beams were tested to obtain the degree of deterioration and mechanical behaviours. The relationship between the materials degradation and overall performance of the beams was examined and a structural assessment of the deteriorated beams was discussed. From the results and discussion, it is concluded that degradation of concrete and the decrement in load carrying capacity of the beams did not significantly appear up to 23 years of exposure.
