A hob with theoretically no accuracy deterioration due to rake surface regrinding to sharpen the cutting edge is proposed. THe hob is used ofr hobbing the rotor of a screw compressor. Usual hobs for ortor hobbing suffer form rapid accuracy deterioration due to rake surface regrinding. The proposed hob is a built-up type hob and can be made easily without applying any special techniques. The blades can be also reground easily with an ordiary surface grinding machine.
