Setting up of ready mixed concrete industry in india: the callenges and opportunities

摘要

This paper draws upon the personal experiences of the authors when establishing a commercial ready mixed concrete business i the Indian subcontinent. The paper discusses the opportunities the country offers to the ready mixed concrete industry owing to the mind-boggling demands for the development of its infrastructure. These are balanced by the daunting barriers and the challenges faced when attempting to convert this potential into a reality. The paper highlights the various challenges faced by the authors which are technical, commercial, logistical and attitudinal in nature. Also explored is the role of the company as a leader in establishing a new industry and its associated working practices and standards. The paper concludes by sketching the moderate progress made by the industry in the past three years.
