European stand ardisation and legislation in the field of concrete

The EEC-Treaty (1957) with the requirement to tear down all barriers to trade, also those existing by technical standardisation, and the New Approach (1985) resulted finally in the Construction Products Directive (1988). This Directive initiated an immense work in standardisation in the construction field which had to follow certain legal provisions. Aspects of standardisation under these conditions are explained in general and detailed for standardisation in the concrete field.
