Chemical analysis of hardened concretes and mortars with active additions; a new procedure for its dentification

The existing chemical analysis procedures for obtaining the composition of hardened concrete with active additions cause great difficulty because of the interference the active additions produce. The need to have a general purpose procedure available is justified by being able to determine the quantitative composition of structural concrete with active additions, to interpret and diagnose any abnormal behaviour, to verify quality control and to be able to establish efficient standards. It presents a new procedure, based on the quantitative determination of the major oxides in the soluble fraction, to identify, through a graphical resolution system, the tipe the addition or additions that are present when their existence and nature are completely unknown.
