The sulifide-siderite St-Georges d'Hurtieres deposit is hosted by a Lower Paleozoic schist sequence of the External Maassifs of the French ALps. Structural and isotope evidences record at least three different hydrothermal events. A Variscan siderite-quartz-barite stage is followed by Alpine mineralisations. One of those consist of quartz veins containing sulfides and sulfosalts and the second one, is disseminated barite and galena within a Triassic limestone lens immediately above the schist sequence.
