Abstract: We present the Infrared Imaging Spatial HeterodyneSpectrometer (IRISHS) experiment. IRISHS is a newhyperspectral imaging spectrometer for remote sensingbeing developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory foruse in identifying and assaying gases in the atmospherewhen viewed against the Earth's background. Theprototype instrument, which can operate between 8 and11.5 micrometers (although the current IR cameraoperates from 8 - 9.5 micrometers), will be described.Imaging spatial heterodyne spectrometer technology isdiscussed in four companion papers also presented atthis symposium.!8
