摘要

From many airborne missions and operational experiences with various airborne multispectral/hyperspectral line scanners, an attempt was made to determine risk data for the reliability of functions of the equipment, the navigation, the weather and illumination conditions under unfavourable airborne circumstances as they are met usually in European climates and airspaces. The reliabilities were estimated by simple probability numbers under the assumption that they were stochastically independent and therefore have the form of conditional probabilities. From each single probability number an overall reliability was calculated of around 50% for the scanner instrument and 60% for the weather, navigation and illumination conditions. Because all probability numbers are subjective estimates, the results may be affected with inaccuracies of 10 to 20 %. Thus the final reliability would be around 70 to 80 %.
