Characterization of corrosion inhibiting emulsions for continuous well treatment

Field experience has proven that water or oil-external emulsions containing properly formulated corrosion and scale inhibitors and cleaners, placed downhole in sufficient quantities, can provide more effective and long term well treatment than the frequently used oil-based products. The gradual break-up of emulsions due to the downhole shearing and heating conditions of wells yields a means of controlled release of the active ingredients present in these emulsions over a long period of time.
