Spandex has been successfully applied on modified worsted spinning system to produce spandex core spun yarn. However it's difficult to produce woo/spandex core spun yarn on woolen spinning system with the same modified device because the drafting device of the two systems is quite different. The fluctuation of wool roving on woolen system will directly lead to uncover of spandex in the yarn. To solve the problem, a new device was developed to ensure spandex lying in the centre of roving all the time. Core spun yarn produced in this way had good elasticity and quality. To study the spinning parameters of wool/spandex core spun yarn on woolen spinning system, a series of experiments were carried out. Single factor experiments were conducted to study the influence of spandex drafting ratio and twist level of core-spun yarn on tensile properties and elasticity of core spun yarns.
