There is an increasing apporeciation for the role tha solution synthesis lays in the preparaiton of metla and ceramic powrs and films.THe objective of this manuscrpt is oto review a geernal approach basded upon rigorous chemcial principles tha tmay be emplyed to produce a powr or film of a desired phase,size distributin.The particle morphology.THe approach is based on the kdevelopment of a fundamental understanding of hte phase stability adn solutin chemcistry of the matieral systme,via the calcuatin of phase stabilty and speciation disagrams.
