Even though the scour depths at bridge piers, which are constructed in the non-chesive bed, are usually obtained by applying the equations for predicting the scour depth, it is very hard to predict the more reasonable cour depths at bridge piers in the cohesive bed. It is becasue most equations for predicting the local scour at bridge piers were obtained based on the experiments in the non-cohesive bed.
