Interocular suppression: large perceptual loss, small sensitivity loss

When one eye is presented with a stimulus incompatible with that presented to the other eye, the eyes are suppressed in turn. Suppression of an eye results in the disappearance of the inducing stimulus to that eye, but only a small drop in contrast sensitivity. There is thus a big difference between perceptual and sensitivity losses; possible reasons for the difference are discussed.
