EPA Expands Bulgaria's Air Quality Management Capability: Results from a Pilot Study in Stara Zagora

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been assisting Bulgaria's Ministry of Environment (MOE) with developing implementing their air quality management program. Through a pilot study of the air quality impact of 25 facilities in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria's sixth largest city, the MOE gained the knowledge to replicate the study in other areas. The study involved four main phases: emission inventory preparation, dispersion modeling, evaluation of emission reduction options, and modeling of a theoretical control scenario.
