INTEGRATED TRANSBOUNDARY MANAGEMENT OF LAKE CONSTANCE DRIVEN BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE PROTECTION OF LAKE CONSTANCE (IGKB)

摘要

Lake management strategies must be based on sound scientific knowledge and are subject to constant changes. The International Commission for the Protection of Lake Constance (IGKB) is a good example of a successful international commission which acts on a broad consensus amongst the many interests and users around Lake Constance. As such, eutrophication was successfully battled, and nowadays integral water protection, including qualitative, quantitative and morphological aspects, is performed. This reflects a new philosophy and conception of nature and environmental protection.
