Abstract: The process of the object selection by multispectral systems is analyzed. The example of such system is the aircraft control device, created for the selection of concrete surfaces, such as runways, against the natural backgrounds. The reliability of object recognition process depends on the probability of object selection. The optimal choice of bands for multispectral system, using the pattern recognition theory approaches, can provide the maximum of selection probability. The method of choice and substantiation the number of multispectral system channels and their bands is proposed. It is shown, that the two-spectral system is enough to solve the task of selection. The catalogue of channels optimal bands is composed. The solidity of results and recommendations is corroborated by Monte-Carlo simulation of object selection process. The results of the investigation can be used during the creation of aircraft control devices.!2
