摘要

The present state and further development of the Russian nuclear industry and other fields of activity giving rise to radioactive wastes require safe isolation of the radioactive wastes from the biosphere. The choice of the method and the place for radioactive wastes disposal, the forms of radionuclides to be isolated, and the design construction of a repository, are determined by the parameters of each specific task of securing a reliable isolation of one or other wastes. The existing concept based on the experience of Russian and international investigations, recommendations of the IAEA, and safety requirements reflected in normative acts of Russia point to the necessity of long-lived, high-level wastes being buried in deep geological formations.
