The objectives of this research were: 1. To determine the temperature history during the filling and cooling of the "can-in-canister" structure; 2. To determine the thermal stress history of the can-in-canister using a sequentially coupled thermal stress analysis; and 3. To assess the potential fo crack formation in the can-in-canister structure.
