Satellite communication experiments in the POST-PARTNERS project

The POST-PARTNERS project began in 1996 with the use of the commercial Ku-band communication satellite JCSAT-3. ^Objectives of the project are to promote space communication in the Asia-Pacific region and to investigate radio-wave propagation characteristics in tropical area. ^The space communication experiments conducted so far between Japan and Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia are video conferences for general purpose and tele-education, multimedia communication, high-speed data transmission, picture quality evaluation, and measurement of tropical radio propagation. ^These experiments promoted human resources development and technology transfer in these countries. ^(Author)
