The characteristics of local vibration of a plate-type structure in incompressible viscous liquids are studied in this paper. Based on the coefficients of added mass and added damping deduced by means of a small parameter expansion method, the added mass matrix and added damping matrix of liquid acting on the structure are obtained when the structure vibrating in the liquid. The decrease of local frequency of the structure vibrating in liquid is qualitatively analyzed by means of a simple model of local structure. The computational values of the local vibration frequencies of the structure are compared with those of resonance test.
