Power consumption of a heavy duty armoured face conveyor

In this paper inderground research results of an armoured face conveyor PF4/P32 equipped with two-speed motors, working in two different longwall faces, have been presented. In both cases an average face output was about 9000 tpd and AFC worked together with the same shearer (drum outside diameter was 1700 mm, width of web 910 mm). The power loading of each motor has been analysed as well as coefficient of power consumption fluctuation, depending on amount of handling material (coal) on the conveyor. On the base of achived results some coeficients have been determined which can be used for proper selection of AFC motors to certain mining conditions in that coal seam.
