Based on the theory of dynamics, this paper breaks through the conventional design concept, and the design features of the cutting drum so designed include: conversion of unequispaced bits and equispaced vanes along the drum cricumference into equispaced bits and unequispaced vanes, specially prvided loading vanes which will separate the cutting and loading functions and improve the loading efficiency, vanes and bits mounted oblique to the drum axis instead of being rectangular to it, and these will increase the strength at the vane open-end without causing any adverse effect to minor loading vanes. High resistance to the variation of external applied load, reduction to minimal the cycles and amplitude of impact load that the driving systme and motor of the cutting unit of coal winning machine have to sustain, low specific energy of cutting, high loading efficiency, high lump coal output percentage and good economic performance are among the technical features of this novel high-efficiency cutting drum with pick-shaped bits.
