The wire-core belt conveyer is very important transportation equipment in heavy industry sites, such as metallurgy, coal mine and guay. In the course of the operation of the equipments, it is a long-standing technical problem to realize the crack detection for wire-core belt conveyer in use. In recent years we made a great deal of laboratory study on the problem unitil we succeeded in the test in Jincheng Mining Bureau in 1996. This paper depicts the theory in detail, the principle and composition of crack detection equipment. Based on concrete data, it analyses the damage condition of wire-core and thereby evaluates the safety degree of wire-core belt. In addition, it makes a comprehension description and evaluation of the research at home and abroad.
