200Gbit/s 100km-span soliton WDM transmission over 100 km of standard fiber with dispersion compensation and pre-chirping

We report, for the first time to our knowledge, WDM soliton transmission at 200 Gbit/s (ten channels at 20 Gbit/s equally spaced by 0.6 nm) over 1000 km of standard stepindex fiber with 100 km span. This experimental demonstration takes advantage from both chromatic dispersion compensation and pre-chirping as predicted by the theory [1]. Partial second and third order dispersion compensations associated with the use of highly dispersive fibers open a wide spectral window (6 nm) available for high density WDM.
