Being a super large scale steel complex, Panzhihua Iron & Steel (Group) Company (hereinafter referred to as Pangang) is established with Chinese own effort. The first phase of Pangang with designed capacity of 1.5 million tons of steel per year started in spring of 1965, put into operation in 1970 and completely reached and surpassed the designed capacity in 1980. Then in 1986 started the second phase construction with expanded capacity of 1 million tons of steel products per year. With 11 years of construction, the second phase has been completed and reached the designed capacity of 2.5 million tons of steel per year.
