A comparison of vertically and horizontally polarized antennas for meteor burst communication at long ranges

An experimental study of antenna polarization and its effect on the performance of a long range meteor burst communication link is presented. When compared on the basis of the existence and frequency of echo rates and their signal strength statistics, the results obtained thus far suggest that there is no inherent disadvantage to the use of vertical, as apposed to horizontal polarization for meteor burst communication over long distances.
