Impedance matching networks are used extensively in radio transmission and receiving systems. A problem in designing pi-networks is that it is difficult to predict the impedance region of the pi-network given a set of practical network component values or ranges, and operating frequency range. The paper presents a computer program capable of plotting the impedance region of the pi-network given component ranges and operating frequency. This gives the designer the ability to visualise the effects that design decisions for components have upon the impedance region of the pi-network. In addition a design procedure is proposed, allowing a pi-network to match a range of impedances.
