Abstract: The definition of macro-texture proposed here comesfrom granulometric analysis which is a way to describestatistically the size of the connected components in abinary. The pixels of the binary image are classifiedaccording to the quantitative descriptors provided bythis analysis. The whole procedure is applied here tothe mapping of the density of the vegetation cover inarid lands from SPOT and thematic mapper. !6
