Abstract: Thin films of biocompatible ceramic were fabricated by pulsed laser deposition on cylindrical implants. Diamond- like carbon films were deposited in vacuum on titanium alloy prostheses, heated to 90 degrees C. Coated prostheses were implanted into legs of rats and osseointegration higher than 60 percent was determined. Thin films of hydroxyapatite were created on real dental implants at 500 degrees C in Ar-water vapor atmosphere. Coated implants were implanted into mandibula of minipigs to study load free osseointegration. Results and experiences are presented and discussed. !18
