Abstract: In this paper we present 3D registration techniques fordetecting breast cancer lesions based on differencesbetween the high spatial resolution 'pre' and 'post'contrast administration MR breast scans. We alsopresent registration techniques for detecting lesionsbased on the time course of enhancement afteradministration of the contrast agent based on changesin the low spatial resolution, high temporalresolution, dynamic MR data taken during the absorptionof the contrast agent. Alignment of the 'pre' and'post' MR data and of the dynamic MR images is done bya direct optimization technique to estimate a globalaffine deformation model using a coarse-to-fine controlstrategy over a 3D pyramid. This global model isfollowed by a one iteration flow estimation to accountfor any local non-rigidity. We present results of theregistration process and visualization of thedifference volumes obtained after alignment. !13
