On-line system setup in a cellar of a flotation plant

This paper describes an online system for froth images of aflotation cellar in mineral processing. The aim of the system setup isto obtain optical information of froth images. Information will then beused for optimization of mineral flotation procedures. In this study, wehave designed an illumination system for grabbing froth image with aconstant illumination, studied image quality evaluation andclassification algorithms. They are used for selecting right types ofimages for further processing. Special segmentation algorithms forbubbles, and about 40 parameters for froth image analysis are presented.Both DOS software and Windows software have been developed and tested
