By employing an optimized equivalent electrical circuit of the coronary circulation, the authors have examined the effects of time-dependent change in intramyocardial vessel resistance and compliance on coronary blood flow. The cost function involved the squares of perfusion pressures, flow rates, aortic pressure and the active intramyocardial pressures by the active elastance in cardiac muscle. Decrease in vessel compliance reduced coronary arterial flow rate and increased venous flow rate. Increase in resistance diminished arterial flow but enhanced venous flow. These changes can explain squeezing effects in the myocardium. The present model is available for estimating coronary circulation.
