The Necessity of the Exist of the Pre-Insert Resistor (PIR) in Circuit Breaker (CB) for 500kV Lines

This paper synthesizes a great deal of the domestic and abroad engineering research in the PIR of CB for SOOkV transmission lines. Through the analysis of overvoltage, the reliability of the breaker and the metal oxide arrester(MOA)and system operation, advance several cases which are not appropiate to eliminatePER. The overvoltage between phases should be especially noticed.
