Abstract: Low-background IR detectors have a very long-term transient response which, what is more, is highly dependent on the preceding irradiations. For these reasons to determine with a high precision the radiation flux of a cool space object, it has to be measured for a long time. The theory presented in this paper describes the detector operation under frequent flux changes and allows precise determination of the flux values from fast measurements, in spite of the strong memory effects. The theory is specialized for the ISOPHOT Si:Ga detector arrays and is confirmed by the experiments. Its use has to add to the productivity of the launched apparatus. !14
